2 Baby Steps Forward, 1 Grown Up Step Back

The last week has been productive and destructive in almost equal measures. On a positive note I met with a musician to talk about the score/audio track for one of the shorts, and we discussed specific sound sampling as well as the mood of the piece in general. As always with pre-production, I found this really helped to focus my mind and talking it through with him made me aware of possibilities for an audience beyond this site.

We called a sound engineer friend to ask advice on recording underwater and when he visited at the weekend he brought a DV camera with a waterproof housing for me to play with. Baby steps.

The harsh reality of life however is that this new direction may never be possible long term. Already, after only 2 months in, I can see that it is not sustainable. Not working to earn a living means that my head is free to concentrate on creative directions and decisions, and this has developed really quickly, as quickly as the lack of cash has impacted on our lives.
