Everything changes very fast
Having made some pretty major changes to my life in order to start 'work' again it seems that once you make some kind of commitment things start to fall into place and connections start to be made.
On contacting Oliver Bernard's estate to track down a recording of moons/tides I inadvertently got passed on to Michael Hamburger's son and he and Bernard's son are friends. This led to an exhibition of Tacita Dean at Frith Street - which I will visit next week.
Filming started in a rush on the water element by way of tentative steps towards recording the ferry for posterity and this led to Crispin agreeing to be the subject of the wood element. One of the ferrymen is a TV director, he leant me a camera and was keen to encourage the Bernard inspired work as Bernard wrote a poem for his mother.
I have started painting again - supported by Jo Lowrie, who is inspirational and technically brilliant. Another friend was so impressed by my new beginnings in paint that she asked if Jo would help her. I visited her house, near Cambridge only to find she had one of Jo's paintings on her wall. She didn't know who had painted it, she bought it from a dealer.
Spurred by the connections becoming apparent once more I talked the someone else about the ideas for moons/tides and they've asked me to contribute to an arts festival next year. I feel as if a Rubicon has been crossed.
