2016 update
The end of 2015 and the start of 2016 has brought total disruption to the natural course of life at the harbour. For two months the village has been a park for heavy plant. Men in high vis. jackets moved in with the machinery and have been working during weekdays, some with great efficacy, others not. One of their policies seems to be to inform the community about what they are doing using signs, fascinating in the case of the numbered squares of roofing felt, which appeared all over the river bank. These explained that they were monitoring amphibians, and there was a slowworm count in progress, others were clearly meant to be amusing. Either that or they just have an avid Soft Cell fan in the sign design department at the Environment Agency.
The days are too short to record the beach scenes with my brilliant cast of one, who leaves the village for work at 7.30am, when it's still dawn. Other projects will start next week instead, beginning with Wood.
